What does no supported d.v.d recorders mean? - d v t more condition_symptoms

Can someone please help me easy to understand. I installed Roxio on my laptop, but when I try to copy things, namely a video or a photo of what comes through: - No DVD recorder is compatible, or if I try to copy my music on a disk, on the rise is not all CD-recorder.
If someone can explain what this means in simple words, as I do.
